For the cases where switching to an alternative is an option:
Pushover has a 7.x release

its iOS and Android apps are free for the first 5 days (the in-app purchase is currently €4,49)

Pushover module has Drupal Rules integration (and Pushover service has non-Drupal related IFTTT integration)
