Some nice features for this modules would be:

1. Alter Node creation form to add a field to upload the icon inside the "Menu configurations" fieldset.
2. Integration with Nice Menus
3. Option to add icon above and under the title, and not to show only the icon.

1. I don't see a compelling use case for this feature.
2. This has its own issue at #1434208: Add support for Nice Menus.
3. Can be achieved with a minimal amount of CSS, so I don't think it's worth adding as an option.

If you have a compelling use case and/or a patch, please open one issue per feature request.
