CPF e CNPJ são identificadores únicos dentro do Brasil, RG não, pois eu posso criar 1 em cada estado, então o módulo deve continuar como ID mesmo, como era antes.

CPF and CNPJ are unique identifiers in Brazil, RG aren't, as i can create one on each province, so the module should go on as ID, like it was created and like the module identifier.

Can't agree with you because CPF and CNPJ by definition are identification numbers for tax purpose only, so that's the why each brazilian individual must also get an ID card issued at the state security office in the state where they reside as you have already mentioned.

Another thing that must be considered is that an ID by definition must have a photo, CPF and CNPJ have no photos.

Your concept of uniqueness is not what defines what ID is. Let's take Australia, where I lived for many years, as an example, they also have a nation wide unique tax number for individuals, called TFN (Tax File Number), that can be compared to our CPF, and the ABN (Australian Business Number) for companies. Both (TFN and ABN) are issued by the ATO (Australian Taxation Office), that can be compared to our Receita Federal.

Each Australian individual also have to get an ID card from the RTA. In the same way as here in Brazil, Australians can get a different ID from each state. There is no photo on the TFN as it doen't on the CPF, so they can not be used for IDENTIFYING a person.

Well, i have to disagree, because your opinion is not shared by the majority of people using CPF on a dayly basis to identify himself in many systems, universities, contracts(in case of companies with CNPJ), etc.

Would be easier for newcomers to find and understand the module if his name match the module name and the everyday use of those identifications, but as the mantainer, the final word is yours.

Pedro,

This is not my opinion, do your research, CPF is issued by the Brazilian Tax Revenue (http://www.receita.fazenda.gov.br) for tax purpose and can not be used for identification on its own.

You are right, there is a common habit of using the CPF number as an auxiliary form of identification and most people take for granted that CPF is a compulsory document to carry around and such.

Just because a lot of people think that something is something does not make it true. CPF is only for tax purpose and nothing but that, nobody other than those people and institutions that are going to threshold tax on your behalf, like banks and employers, can require your CPF number, that is the law http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadastro_de_Pessoas_F%C3%ADsicas | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadastro_de_Pessoas_F%C3%ADsicas
