yannisc commentedThe usual process on groupon style sites is to not be able to update quantity.
martindave commentedwell, it would still be a nice feature if in the admin section we can have the option of turning on/off customers' capability to update quantity of deal they will be buying during the checkout process. sounds like you intentionally disabled this functionality in order to emulate groupon features...however, in my case, I do need to have this functionality, probably with an additional one: the admin/or the store that creates the deal, should be able to set a upper-limit to limit the number of deals a customer can buy per dealtype..
I am a newbie to drupal, if you can give some pointers as how I can achieve this(if you decide not to implement this feature), it will be greatly appreciated.
thanks very much for your help and your work with this great contribution.

mxa055 commentedI would like this way of working as well. I do not see the point on why someone wouldn't be able to buy more than one items of the same deal.
I tried replacing the Cart report with a Cart form view, where a quantity field is available, but the post event of the cart form conflicts with the post event of the checkout form and thus you cannot update quantity. I then thought of using the ajax cart module but this also has no effect on quantity when on the checkout page, although it works in just the cart form.
Any hints on how this could work would be greatly appreciated as I see it as a much needed feature.
PS: Besides I just checked groupon and does have quantity selection in the checkout form using a dropdown. :(

martindave commentedquantity can be updated..well, not so easily. log in as admin, go to store->configuration->checkout settings, and choose "commerce_cart_form" defaults option from the "cart contents view" drop-down list, and users will be able to update quantity during checkout process.
however, when clicking "update cart" button while checking out, it won't let you update your cart until you fill out every required field of the billing info form and other fields, which is counter-intuitive, for example, during checking out process, customer wants to update the quantity first, without filling out all those billing info yet, when he clicks "update cart" button, he expects to see both the quantity field and the order total field being updated accordingly, without having to fill out all the other billing info first...
anyway, closing this one as it works as designed...

mxa055 commentedHaving to fill out all the details and then change quantity is not counter intuitive, but rather unacceptable.
I will accept the works as designed status, not that I believe that not being able to have a cart at the checkout page to offer single page checkout is a feature, but rather than it is a commerce limitation and not open deals one.

nvidian commentedI could add quantity field to the full product display, but I dont know if this is the proper way.
1. First add/check 'Full Content' at the 'Custom Display Settings' at admin/structure/types/manage/deal/display
2. Click 'Full content' at the top right
3. Click the 'configure logo' on product row.
4. Check 'Display a textfield quantity widget on the add to cart form. ' and click Update.
Now the quantity field will display at your product, but of course it need some css theming to make it looks good.
And please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.
