an hosting

I've got a review up here: http://blamcast.net/articles/drupal-hosting

I started hosting my sites there in January, after leaving Dreamhost because of poor MySQL performance. The performance is great, I'm running Drupal with Gallery2 embedded, and it's so fast I don't even need caching enabled. The site survived getting front-paged on LinuxToday.com without even slowing down.

Since I've been there, I've seen about 4 hours downtime in total, which is less than 60 minutes a month. I've used a lot of hosts over the years, and AN Hosting is the best one I've come across yet. Based on my personal experience, I'd say they're definitely one of the top contenders in the Drupal shared-hosting market.

don't purchase mailing list service!

I am with Anhosting from 3 months.
service is quite good, I had my site slow for 2 3 day but generally it works well.
anyway, since there is a limit of sending 200 email in a hour for each domain, I purchased the mailing list service, that runs by mailman.
the problem is that mailing list can't work! suppose you have a ml of 150 users. You write a message, but that message sends 150 email... your friend reply to that message and you go to 300 message! so they sell a service that can't work, because you lost hundred of message in a hour.
Also, if you use largely subscription of notification module, be careful, because you *must* use the queue, in order to not reach the 200 message in a hour.
So... anhosting is good if you don't use email very much.

It would be good to purchase

It would be good to purchase a 3rd party mailing service.

When I had a problem to dump

When I had a problem to dump ~ 12MB data on my barely used, all inclusive account, this is the replay I got from one of their Tech. support (Anne). What do you think of that? :)

"The variable max_allowed_packet is fixed on the server and we cannot increase
the value on the server as this is fixed for the optimized server performance."

Their hosting is complete

Their hosting is complete shit, I used MidPhase (ANHosting's sister company, same eggs) and they blocked my account two times (just right after the end of 30-day money back guaranteed period!!!) for CPU overload (btw, they just told about overload but never helped me to find the problem)...at last, they told me, if this happens again, we'll delete your account without warnings. What a heck??? And I payed for this a one year price!!! I don't recommend anyone this hosting!!! I moved my 'cpu hog sites' to other shared hosting and they are working perfectly there.

I would stay away from those

I would stay away from those who offer "lots of space and disk space". Ask yourself what's better, quality of service or all that you can get for the lowest possible price. If you pick the latter, and when you get smacked with a suspension -- don't seem surprised.
