This refers to a standard Drupal installation, like the test and demo installation at http://www.michna.com/drupal/ .

When content is changed, there is a log message field, where the user can explain his reasons for the change.

However, these log messages disappear, never to be seen again.

If they are not good for anything, there should not be an input field for them or the admin should at least be able to remove that input field.

A better solution would be to show these log messages in at least one log list or at the very least in the single log entry, when that is opened.

This is not a feature request, but a (non-critical) defect, because one element is entirely dysfunctional.

This has nothing to do with the "Logging and alerts" module. This is part of Drupal core.

There is probably already code that does what you want somewhere.
