I assume you have created a profile for tinymce

Administer->settings->tinymce->edit profile->Basic setup->Default state=true

Is there a way to allow a contributor to not use TinyMCE or any other WYSIWIG editor, once anyone of them has been installed, should they prefer to use the default drupal editing form?

The contributor can choose to disable TinyMCE by using the link "disable rich text" under the TinyCE window. Similarly if TinyMCE is not enabled by default the user can use the link "enable rich text" under the TinyMCE/Text window

That should be helpful. It's a few months since I (unsuccessfully) attempted to install TinyMCE, but that will be helpful when I make another attempt it again.

I had since tried Fckedit and discovered the 'source' icon which allows you to see the source text, which is more or less what I wanted.

Thanks again.
