2.x currently has no proper upgrade path from 1.x; not sure how the features will need to be changed, but the least is the table that features_override 1.x define need to be deleted

According to the module usage statistics there are 2 sites using the 7.x-1.x version, so this probably won't happen. Closing as won't fix.
