I have a problem with an image field where the 'Browse' button (the actual text appears to be browser-specific - it's 'Choose a file' in Chrome) is not displaying at all in IE 8 so users are unable to use the field. In IE8 the button is just visible but only a few pixels wide and does nothing. I have been unable to target it with css.
There are several threads here relating to file fields and jquery but I have not found a solution. I have tried Jquery Update module but it breaks uploads in ALL browsers and has no effect on this specific problem.
I am stumped for a solution on this and would appreciate any pointers to help find one.

I don't know the answer, but I do know that there is bug (in the theme's issue queue) with adaptivetheme's media queries in the img {max-width: 100%;} in at.base.css which squashes images in IE8. Could be relevant?
