I've created a small module to allow you to add user relationships links via the Panels UI. http://drupal.org/project/ur_panels

I would definitely use the module since I'm a big fan of Panels myself, but the fact that #1159638: Update Panels Integration for 7.x-1.x hasn't gotten much attention makes me wonder if people are using panels and ur together much.

I'll link to your new module from the project page for now and discuss porting it and adding it into 7.x later on if it picks up some traction. Right now I'd like to focus on improving the functionality that is currently in place or in progress before any additions.
