Translated book nodes have two issue:

1) The book helper settings seem to be ignored for these nodes, for example 'previous link', 'next link' are still displayed even if they are unchecked in book helper settings.

2) There is no book helper interface to change the menu name for the translated book nodes.

I have never worked with i18n but I am completely willing to support it. I will look into what I need to do to setup a dev site to duplicate these issues.

I just spent an hour trying to get i18n to work.

First off, I disabled my book_helper.module and tried to build out a french translation of a book. It seems like I had to create parallel book pages and a book outline. I was able to create the translated pages but could not get the new book outline to work. The select 'Book' menu in the outline fieldset does not contain the translated book title.

Right now, I don't have enough time free to fix this. I do feel this is a important issue to resolve and welcome help.
