The Links package (http://drupal.org/project/links) does not link directly out to an external site but via a drupal redirect in order to count how many people visit the link. Because of this the links do not get the external links which would be nice.

This is fixed with a small amount of configuration thanks to #321690: Method to include certain internal links. The help text for regexs even explicitly includes an example for the links package.
