Just downloaded the latest dev version for upgrade on an existing install - and got the following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /var/www/dev/hullabol/sites/all/modules/contrib/simple_contest/includes/simple_contest.api.inc on line 77
