Not subtracting inventory amounts from product

I have installed E-Commerce Inventory to test and it allows inventory amounts to be input for non-shippable products, but doesn't decrement the number of items available when purchased. I'm running the latest version of Drupal 5 (5.1) and am running the ecommerce 3.0 module (perhaps this was built for 2.0?).
