Is there a way to have mailing list checked by default

Great module, thanks. I agree with the need to get explicit permission from the site visitor to subscribe them to a contact list, but can we do it with a single checkbox, checked by default, instead of 2?

Under 'Display Explicit Subscribe Checkbox' in the config panel it says:

'If you would like to display a subscribe checkbox set this option to yes. if you do not display a subscribe checkbox users will have to select a contact list to subscribe, if your not displaying contact lists then whether or not the email field is required will determine if the user is subscribed, i.e. if email field is not required and user enters no email their not subscribed and if they do enter one they are subscribed.'

Under the 'Contact Lists' selection it says:

"If you show the contact list selection, choose which contact lists will be available to select, if you do not show the contact list selection choose which lists their automatically added to."

To me this indicates that if you optin users by default, show the subscribe checkbox, and select one or more contact lists without exposing the contact list, users should be added to the contact lists you select, provided they do not uncheck the subscribe checkbox. The system does not behave this way though. You have the option to 'Optin Users by Default', however, this only checks the subscribe checkbox, which does nothing on it's own. The visitor is not automatically added to any list as the above seems to indicate will happen. You must show the contact list for the site visitor to explicitly select a list to join. As far as I can tell, the subscribe check box doesn't do anything and there is no way to 'Optin Users by Default.'

Is the module operating as intended? If so then the instructions seem to be incorrect, or am I misinterpreting what it says?

If the module is operating as intended, then is there a way to have a contact list also selected by default when the Subscribe Checkbox is selected to 'Optin Users by Default' so the site user has to uncheck the contact list checkbox to not subscribe, rather than check it to subscribe?
