It would be nice to have URL alias support so http://site/tag/cats/list also would work instead of http://site/taxonomy/term/number/list.

You can just create an alias yourself, for instance /mynodelist to /taxonomy/term/$tid/list.

I have thousands of taxonomy terms so manual labor is out of the question.
