several pages not redirected (including start page)

I wanted to use this module to redirect pages (especially the logon one).
if i set it to only redirect the listed pages I could not find a way to have it redirect the start page (which does display a logon form of course) to SSL (i've put a meta redirect for now, but that means that the whole page will stay on ssl - which for now is fine).
I also tried to tell it to redirect all pages except for listed (ie i don't necesarily want my files/uXX encrypted -though it still has session cookie of course so might change my mind), but it still wouldn't redirect the 'start page' to the https version without me manually doing it...

one thing i think would be nice is to have a link displayed somewhere on the page to switch to ssl (not sure if this can/should be done from this module ..) or at least under the logon form.
