when the latest version guestbook is installed and you install captcha. If you then try to get to site guestbook the page is blank. I have uninstalled captcha an the prob goes away

This is a guestbook issue. Replace guestbook.module with the file attached (remove the .txt) and it should work. It's a quick and extremely dirty hack, but it works.

Seems like it's something wrong with Guestbook and not Captcha....
