I've tried both Joomla and WordPress and they seem much faster then Drupal.
When I access my Drupal site installed on localhost I have a big delay.
The delay is also present when browsing through pages without been logged on and editing.

I've seen Drupal sites online that moves much faster. I'm doing something wrong ? Can something be done to improve it's performances ?

My understanding is that the database in general is much larger than the other two's. But yes, you can do things to speed up the site. There are various modules that you won't use til the end, for instance Devel, Production check/ monitor, HeadJs, Security review, etc. Also your caching settings may have to be adjusted. Optimizing your site is a separate learning process, but I don't think it's that much to learn.
