Cannot see "Subscribe to Content Type and Term" as Authenticated user, only as Admin

Hi all
I am running my website on Drupal 7.12 and have installed Notifications
I have a forums page all the containers of which have automatically been entered into a vocabulary under "Forums"
Logged in as admin I can go to my Add Subscriptions page and all the options are there - including Subscribe to : Content type / Author / Content type by Author / Tag / Taxonomy and most importantly for my site, Content Type and Term
However when I log in as an authenticated user , all the options are there EXCEPT content type and term
I have tried all the variations in all the settings for Configuration of Subscriptions and notifications etc but to no avail. Bizarrely this one option for subscriptions is missing and it's the one I most need for my site
Does anyone have any ideas what I'm missing?
