Field Collection has a date time field - can this be placed in decending order?

We have a CRM being developed for a client. For each of their customer nodes we have a field collection that has an unlimited quality set. In that collection we have a date field. I was wondering if there is any way to order the resulting notes based on that date field (in a descending fashion) on the view form; other than writing a new module?
