Juan_g provided a very interesting overview on the "Drupal 7 porting status of Commons modules"
( see the article: http://groups.drupal.org/node/204113 )

Juan have given a simple table with all of the current contributed modules in the Commons package, and their stages of development, so that people can get a better handle on where the D7 upgrade might be.

Stable versions, release candidates, and those modules moved into core, are of course ready to use now. Beta versions can probably be ready, with some patching when needed. Alpha and dev versions maybe,
depending on the cases, with more patching needed. A few modules are still D6 only, and need a port to D7, or perhaps to be replaced by other modules.

A practical possibility could be to release a D7 version of Commons with the already prepared modules.

It would have a little less functionality than the D6 version for now, gradually adding it -in .1, .2, etc. releases- when available. Version count (2012-01-25): 9 in core, 19 stable, 4 rc, 10 beta, 9 alpha, 9 dev, 1 unstable, 9 D6.

That is, 32 ready to use, 10 probably, 19 maybe, 9 not yet. Total: 70 contributed modules. Question: who is interested in getting the D7 version of commons with the allready prepared modules!?

Speak up and let us know - if many have interest then the developers (and juan_g) probably can provide a D7 version of Commons with the already prepared modules.

Look forward to a fruitful discussion

Hi,
I am going to be starting the development on a community website here in Holland in the next few hours/days, and would really be interested in getting my teeth into something really meaty, like testing out Drupal Commons 7, maybe even ironing out some of the easier creases. So let me know if there's a github access or something to start rummaging through.

Pleased to meet you!

hello dear buddy good day hexag - just head over here:

http://groups.drupal.org/node/210038#comment-691938

see the good news - and jump uppon the bandwaggon

cit: "We are interviewing Commons communities and doing research on successful Commons and social business communities. We are specifically looking for community feedback on what constitutes an MVP for Commons. This will help define an initial release of Commons on D7 and allow early, continual feedback in shaping the future of Commons!"

see the comment - and jump uppon the bandwaggon

"Getting through a development phase should be a high priority. If Commons could be brought up with Dev Desktop and worked well (with templates) with NetBeans that would be a plus. It would also be useful to have a Commons distro that would work on a shared server. That might mean a reduced set of modules that addressed a minimal set of user features." end of cit.

well and besides the answering on the thread - you can publish this news on all the dutch sites you know...
i think some dose of evangelization would be good here.

in other words spread the word to the world

greetings unleash
