Issue Summary

Hi I am new to Drupal and just trying to find my way around. I am building a site that calls for the use of 1 login page for my Joomla site and my Drupal site. It is a social network site for entertainment. There is different groups and 1 group was created with Joomla. I have to create subgroups for that group as well. I want these groups to sign in on my main site Drupal, to have access to all the resources that are there. But they will all share all the contents in the database (media files). I want to keep just 1 User log for all users to my site. The site is just not for those groups though it is built around them. They are the main target. They will benefit from the average users. The Joomla site is complete except for the contents (media). I want to use a 3rd software for the media handling. That is where i want the Drupal media files to be. I want to know if i can have Drupal and joomla access an external database and files to retrieve media contents and certain files. How do I accomplish that, if it can be done. the users would access the other sites based on their groups and needs. I would also like to have some users be paid members and access events based on payment.
