Under this area "/admin/user/configure/permission", I have set anonymous users to be able to create and view a specific node type by checking the appropriate checkboxes. I am not using a contrib module.

About a year ago, I used the same settings to allow anonymous users to post content ("/admin/user/configure/permission") for about a one-month period at the client's request and it worked. After the month was finished, I changed the permissions under back so anonymous users were restricted from post anything. One year later, I have tried changing the settings back to allow anonymous users to post and this is where I am experiencing problems.

When publishing this node type, the preview step works, but when I click the "submit" button, I can no longer see the published node. When I look at the mysql database, I see the submission is there under the node table but the website does not appear to publish it. If I go into the database manually through phpmyadmin and change the user ID for the node from 0 to 1, the record becomes visible on the site. The problem appears to be something related to displaying nodes by user ID 0 (anonymous).

I thought perhaps the publish flag may be the cause so I checked under the default settings for the node type and the publish flag is on (under "/admin/node/configure/defaults").

I am at a loss. Can anyone help?

you've posted the exact same question 3 times in 2 days, when you could have bumped the original question.

I am not sure of what permissions are involved in 4.5 however .... what you link to is an event node, do anon users have permission to post events ?

you will find very little support for version 4.5, I highly suggest an upgrade to at a minimum of 4.7.6 so that the masses can better help you within the community who have no experience with versions previous to 4.7.6.

I wasn't aware I could bump a question. How is that done?

Anonymous users have been granted permission to post events but it is not working. This is my problem. Do you have any suggestions/ideas?

I agree with you comments on an upgrade. I am considering it but there are a lot of hack jobs within the version I am using that someone else did for me and I'm worried about losing certain functions.

you bump the topic just as you have. By adding another new comment to your post which pushes it back to the top of the forums.

Considering your site and the amount of custom work already done on it, maybe hiring a drupal consultant would be prudent. http://drupal.org/drupal-services
