Seems like the "Official Version" - currently 5.x-1.10 - is actually buggy: eg. recent comment "The new Version 5.x-1.10 doesn't work for me too. I will use the 5.x-1.8 with the patch, till the problem is solved."

This suggests to me that - if the module does not work - it should be designated "Dev" - just so that people do not make the mistake of downloading it thinking that it will work.

Also, ideally, there would be a statement somewhere on the front page "Please note: does not work" and I only suggest this because I have seen similar notices on other modules.

By the way, I really admire your efforts - you are obviously a total genius to even attempt such an endeavour - and I look forward to a clearly labelled working version - because I consider this module to be an essential tool for proper control of the Content Creation process.

I hear what you are saying, but please, PLEASE do not change it to dev status. I wish even half the so-called dev versions were made official versions so that I can keep track of them with the nifty Update Status module (which does not work with dev versions). Like many users I would guess, daily patch tracking/debugging of Drupal contributions is not high on my list of priorities and Update Status gives me a quick glimpse into which ones need my attention. Just my 0.02p...

Works for me, great module BTW.

5.10 didn't work for me either. Version 5.9 seems to be working though.

Why not use the alternative to Update Status - what's it called, Release? It tracks dev releases.

So which version is working... I started out with 5.1.10.. that doesn't hide any fields for certain users and went back to version 5.1.7.. unfortunately it still doesn't work.
