Hi together,
i'm looking for a way to embed video from external platforms in an easy and safe way. I already saw GoogTube and other modules of course but the problem is that it should work with several other platforms and videos: youtube, google video, sevenload.com, revver.com, myspace, myvideo.de, clipfish.de, ...
One of the best approaches i saw was the embed module (http://drupal.org/project/embedfilter) which is unfortunately not ready for 5.x yet (http://drupal.org/node/108042).
Enabling script, embed and object tags completely won't work as users are able to post stories and that of course would be a big security hole.
so what's left for 5.x? Probably anyone around able to port the embed module to 5.x? Or any other approach? There's a really great WordPress Plugin arround from Stefan Evertz (http://www.hirnrinde.de/index.php/2006/05/27/flash-cortex/ - site in german, plugin description also available in english). Probably anyone around beeing able and willing to transform this idea to drupal?
Thanks,
Frank

Video CCK
I have used the video cck module (http://drupal.org/project/video_cck) on one of my sites and it seems to work quite well, even though it is still in development. It currently supports YouTube, Google, Revver, MySpace, MetaCafe, JumpCut, and BrightCove video formats, I was also able to add support for my site http://eq.tv with relative ease.
Hope that helps,
Jason

No extra field
Hi Jason,
thanks for your reply and for the link to the video cck. The supported platforms look good but as far as is can get it this solution will be an extra field to the content type and can also be only one video per node/entry, couldn't it?
What i would prefer is to enter the video code or a special link/id (like in flashcortex) within the post to integrate the video wherever the user like's to have it.
Thanks,
Frank
refuses to embed
i'm using this module, but when i use the embed code for a video, it works like a link -- no embedded video, just linked. i don't want people to jumpt to YT. i can't find any setting that might be causing this, and i am using the right code from YT.
Have you looked at FlashVideo?
Have you looked at the FlashVideo project? I just created the ability to add google and youtube videos very easily. You can read about it HERE!.
Let me know what you think.
FlashVideo
Yeah i have but basically i found out that it's embedding feature for GV and YT is just a secondary part. The primary goal is to host own video files, isn't it?
What i want is just a basic embedding features. Video_cck is rather nice but it's still not the perfect thing. I thought more about a content filter which allows easy embedding of several platforms videos.
Check out my latest....
What about doing this?

It is quite safe since I don't really even store the object code. I just parse out all the information I need and use it in my [video] tag.
thanks for jumping in
thanks for jumping in travist.
It's a single content type then?
Embedfilter got ported to 5.x http://drupal.org/project/embedfilter - from my point of view this is the most suitable solution.
I stopped having this on my
I stopped having this on my website... too many spammers. :)
That embedded filter does look like a better alternative.
Embedded Media Field
i just installed this module to replace Video CCK, and it updated my existing node perfectly. in fact, it fixed the problem Video CCK had, which was a field that was limited to 255 characters for entering the YT embed code. check out this module; it looks like it has a lot to offer, replacing a number of independent CCK modules with a media engine. very good start.
Embedded Media Field
Embedded Media Field - A Winner
I've tried almost everything available for putting video on a Drupal node and Embedded Media Field is the only one that I can say was pain-free. I've used it with YouTube and Revver and I love it.
BTW, Revver seems to me to be the best choice in terms of video quality. They have a 100 MB filesize limit and no time limit. That allows for some pretty high quality video. Way better than YouTube.
