Weight module is not working for me (Drupal 5.1)

I want to arrange few stories on the node the way I like. I came across the weight module on these forums. I installed it and enabled it. I change the weight of a story from -10 to 0. I save it but no effect. When I go back to edit screen again, it is still -10. It seems I am wasting lot of time trying to implement very obvious things unless I am missing something here. Can somebody please help?
