This integration uses the new CMIS standard. It's an Atom-based software interoperability protocol, that was created by EMC, IBM, Microsoft, Alfresco, Open Text, Oracle, and SAP. It was developed especially for this purpose: connecting different CMS systems, using a single protocol. CMIS is brand new, so here at Joomlatools we are very excited to be among the first to ever implement it.
Seeing is believing: you can try it for yourself on the demo site, or you can download it at Joomlatools Labs. We opened a new forum to hear your thoughts.
Very glad to see that there is some work underway on a Drupal-Alfresco integration. It is specifically the RM functionality that I seek to incorporate. RM is very different from DM, through should encompass DM functionality within an RM frame. I understand that Alfresco is the only open source tool to do this so am eager to learn more.
Technical work is not my forte, but I consult in RM so am always on the lookout for viable apps.

We (Civic Actions) just did this for Amnesty International's new site. Try out the search at www.amnesty.org -- that's searching Alfresco.
Unfortunately I was just a lowly themer on this project ;) I don't know about the technical details of the Alfresco integration, but I know that we are intending to get as much of this knowledge back to the community as possible. Sam Lerner did the Alfresco stuff.
I would love to see it work. I have been searching for a module which integrates drupal with a document management system. I would like to get more details on this. Are you folks planning to contribute a module which does this? or planning to share the knowledge on how this can be done? Either one would be greatly helpful.
I for one would love to see a DMS incorporated into Drupal.
I have finally settled "back on" Drupal after experimenting with Plone, ezPublish and a number of other CMS systems, as well as DMSs like Alfresco and Magnolia, but Drupal does lack some key DMS concepts.
The truly cool thing about Alfresco is its CIFS access - I would love to have this for Drupal as well.
So, any hints or tips on getting some integration going with Alfresco - for my money the best OS DMS because it has been kept largely clean and simple - would be great.

Is a great idea. Anybody know of any other DMS's integrated with Drupal?

Ronny,
Hi. I would be very interested in learning more about your efforts with Alfresco.
What about the search
I'm also very interested about how you have implemented alfresco into drupal. Furthermore if you can do a full search from drupal to alfresco ?
Could you give us some more information about working features of this integration ?
And for sure, code would be very nice to have.
Cheers,
Damien
