Hello Drupallers,
I'm just getting to grips with Drupal 5.1, and I have a need to capture RDF-style relationship metadata to inter-connect the pages that I will be creating.
The overall aim of the site is to drive consistency amonst a number of mobile device UI dev teams (who are developing mobile portals in a number of countries), share source code/images, and provide a forum for dev teams to submit new components as they create them, for ratification by the design authority and ultimately future reuse across all dev teams.
The pages themselves will each detail a "UI Component" which is basically a building block that a number of dev teams need to use to build GUIs for mobile devices... examples include "navigation link list", "promo banner", "search box + button", "forward/back buttons", "date picker / field" etc etc. The Drupal pages will include a screenshot of the component in use, guidance for usage, a downloadable zip file containing source code/images etc.
I need to capture inter-component relationships such as "component x is related to component y", "component x should always be used with component y", "component x is extended by component y" etc. I will also be publishing details of some 'templates' that illustrate typical configurations of components in common use cases - for example, a "payment process use case" which shows which components to use and how to lay them out on a number of pages that would typically be used to implement a full payment process - eg. capture name/address, capture card details, capture amount, etc. These templates will therefore also need to specify relationships such as "page template x requires components y and z", "page template x can optionally use component y" etc.
Ultimately, I need to generate an RDF feed of all component metadata that can be programatically consumed by other tools / systems.
Dman's Relationship module looks ideal, but only seems to support Drupal up to v4.7. I'm hoping someone (dman, perhaps? :o) could let me know:
1) Will the 4.7 version of the Relationships module work with 5.1? (I assume not)
2) Are there any plans to implement a 5.1-compliant version? - if so, in what kind of timescales?
3) Are there any other ways / modules I should be considering to achieve the required results?
Sorry for the long post, but I thought the background detail may be useful!
Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated as I'm very new to Drupal (total experience circa 2 days!)
Many thanks,
Steve

Same situation
Hello Steve, I'm also willing to find a relationship module that works the same way you described, but I'm having the same questions. Could you find any of the answers? Or have you opted on using another CMS that could better provide the support you want?
Sincerely,
Renan
