Display advanced search options side by side?

When I originally took over SQL Search, I arranged all the "advanced search" options in such a way as to take up as little space as possible - using the module again, I notice that they are now arranged one after the other. IMHO this is a usability problem: there is far too much space taken up on the page. Would there be any objections to my changing this back again? For example, the search by taxonomy should be placed alongside the keywords, not after them.
