relation dummy field is missing

I've installed a clean site with no content, enabled views, relations and relations dummy only, created two content types and a non-directional relation. When I try to create a relation field with the dummy widget it doesn't appear. I've tried plenty of combinations in the reference definition but no joy. I created some content, still no good. Any ideas?
