I've installed this module because I wanted a home page with nothing in it - except the blocks I've set for the home page, of course.

however, the Data field in Front Page Override must be filled with something. so I left an empty <span> tag there.

redirecting to a blank node seems even more of a kludge, so I didn't really do that. I think users should be able to leave the Data field blank. shouldn't them? or is there an obstacle I don't know of?

I think when the module was created there was a need to put something in the field, with now so many modules like Context and so on, the case could be thought again. I don't think there is an impossibility to let the field blank, maybe merely a warning for the user that he has to know what he's doing?

You should use Empty Page or Empty Front Page instead of Front.
