An option should be implemented to have the tableofcontents module insert index numbers with heading text corresponding to the index shown by the browser.

I don't get it. index numbers to headings in toc or in content?

What he wants is numbers next to each heading that correspond to the ones in the ToC. I'd like this too, but as a configurable option.
