Why do we need to depend on media.module and all it's bloatness just to embedded media? This module didn't use to depend on media and I am sure a lot of users would agree that removing dependency to it would be ideal.

I agree with @likewhoa. I used this module a lot on D6 for embedding YouTube and Vimeo videos, but I'm not going to install the blotted Media module just so I can create one video field for one content type. Removing the Media module dependency would be great.

Other solutions I've found thus far:
oEmbed - http://drupal.org/project/oembed (and http://drupal.org/project/oembedthumbnail)
Works well but does not have the options that emfield had.

YouTube Field - http://drupal.org/project/youtube
Works great with lots of options but obviously limited to only youtube.
