How would this work?
Plupload is an upload 'widget' (editing nodes) whereas galleryformatter is only a 'formatter' (showing nodes). Would you like to add images when showing a gallery/node?

This is already working.

Tested with plupload 7.x-1.0 and the latest galleryformatter 7.x dev. It should also work with the latest stable as well.

Just configure your field to use the plupload widget in 'manage fields', and jQuery Gallery format in 'manage display'.

@johnv: Field widgets are independent things from field formatters.

You dont need to create any new fields if you want to switch to plupload on an existing field, just change the Widget and you should be all set.
