I'm very new to Drupal, so I'm not sure of the terminology I should be looking for - please bear with me.

I want to make a site similar to My Yahoo! or iGoogle, where users can create their own page with the RSS feeds of their choice, customized weather, etc. I'd still like the rest of the site to be "clean"; that is, not have a stack of RSS feeds at the bottom or a lot of other cluttery blocks.

Is this possible? Is there a phrase for what I'm looking for?

The word generally used for what you are looking for is portal. This should help narrow down the results you get when looking through the forums.

The discussion about the New York Observer site http://drupal.org/node/141187 demonstrates a lot of the modules and systems that you would probably want to incorporate, as well as giving you an idea how much work is involved.

With apologies to mrf, the MySite module was in fact exactly what I'd wanted. I'm not cheerfully consolidating my various personal home pages into one central self-controlled one. Thanks!
