Display Node using Multiple Fields for selection

Currently one select list is used on the display node to choose between all the possible variations.

For a site example selling clothes that have size and color both with different prices these variations would be better presented in the ui by two separate select lists.

Is there any plans on this? I understand it is fairly complex, maybe some kind of override that has pattern matching for combinations, its a bit out of my ability though.
