Over the past month or so I have written a series of pages on setting up a mailing list using a bunch of modules. You can find these pages beginning at [#1401228]. I would appreciate it if you'd review and comment on them, and eventually publish them.

http://drupal.org/node/1401228 for anyone playing along at home (that link syntax only works for issues)

Just wanted to say that you're better off to publish the pages and mark them as "needs review" in the page status. The docs team is not active enough to get a prompt review though you can keep the ticket open if you want to try and get attention in the queue for it as well. But I wouldn't wait on a review to publish your pages.

Also - you might do better to move this issue into the module's issue queue to get reviews from the maintainers or other people working on the issues, as we tend to focus a lot on core in the docs queue.

Thanks!

Thanks for your prompt reply. I would put it in a module's issue queue if it involved only one or a few modules. But many modules are involved. I'll notify maintainers of the main ones.

Great idea - be sure to publish the pages as many (most?) people don't actually have the ability to view unpublished pages. Only the D.o site admins do, and there aren't many of us!

Just to amplify what arianek said... We're not actually using issues any more to ask for pages to be reviewed. The current process is that you should publish the pages (so everyone can see them) and make sure their input format is "filtered HTML" so everyone can edit them. Then set the page status to "needs technical review" or "needs copy/style review" as appropriate.

At that point, anyone who is looking for an editing project can go to http://drupal.org/documentation/manage and find pages with this status to work on.

We're only using issues in the docs project for large groups to track collaborative docs projects, and really major issues. Try creating an issue and read the guidelines there, or for more see the docs issue guidelines page.

Now I'm a little confused. Before I started I posted a message here and was told to go ahead and put the pages up. I did that by creating child pages to an existing related post in the documentation. When I create and edit child pages I do not see settings for publishing pages or changing input formats. But the pages are published by default. If you go to the link in my first post you will find the first in a series of book pages. Each is marked needs copy/style review.

I did make one or two mistakes, but don't have permission to delete the pages. I made notes in the log field to delete them.

Ah, yes, they appear to be published and the input format is fine -- you had said in your original post "and eventually publish them", so I think both arianek and I assumed they were unpublished.

If you make a list here of pages you want deleted, we can take care of that (you need to be a content admin on drupal.org to delete pages).

The ones to be deleted are #1401242 and #1401270.

Thanks for your help.

OK, those are deleted.

By the way, I noticed while I was doing that that you have page titles like "Overview". That kind of page title is OK when you are viewing the page within the context of the outline on the right sidebar, but it is not very useful when it comes up in a search result (Google or Drupal.org either way). So it is preferable to have a page title that can stand alone. Just a thought...
