This was really bad. None of the links were correct. Even worse, it's a site used by families and one of the links in the notify email went to a porn site. The domain.org is missing.

Try setting the $base_url variable in your settings.php file.

Always worth testing things that are going to go out in emails you can't claw back ;)

Yes. That worked. I had run previous versions of Drupal and the notify.module. Perhaps, as a precaution, I had set the base_url and forgotten doing it.
