Edition forms does not present a table as a table, if a field collection (widget "table") is set to "Number of values = 1" inside a certain Content Type.

The following sequence of screens can help understand what is happening.

That's restricted to edition forms. Display of nodes are ok.

Sorry, that's the same issue reported since 7.x-1.x-dev (Sep 12, 2011) by MrHaroldA.
But he considered as a new feature. Isn't a bug?

thanks for pointing to the other issue. Its common on d.o. to close the newer one with a link to the older one to collect as much input as possible on this. Feel free to discuss if it is a bug or not over there.

#1276446: Doesn't format as table with single (1) field_collections.

By the way: this is rather a "normal" issue instead of a major bug ;) ...
