Currently simplefeed creates nodes for unpublished feeds.
I'll fix this in the near future.

SimpleFeed creates nodes for feeds with node.moderate<>0 too... So usage of modr8 module doesn't work correctly.

This has been fixed.

Note, the moderate flag was removed from Drupal, so best bet is to have your site set feeds in moderation to be unpublished till the are moderated and then published.
