I would like to ability to defign a user variable so they can select/deselect mail from this module as well as add a link to the body that allows users to unsubsribe from the mailings.

helps keep things user optional and friendly.

Good idea. I have an idea that this could be done through the user profile--add a tab on 'mail notification'. Anyone want to contribute such a patch?
