Okay, so I am building an audio site as is everyone on the planet. I installed pushtape on a quickstart virtual machine. There were some issues with it saying drupal was already installed so I manually added the modules.

I know that audio is a future issue. In working with the development of my own site, I'd like to contribute my thoughts on this issue and see if others may agree or respectfully disagree. What audio websites that are selling music or promoting audio need is a proper listening booth. What better than a pair of functioning turntables like those back in the day at a professional DJ record store. And so, I've become interested in Scott Schiller's work:
http://www.schillmania.com/

Here are the turntables installed in Drupal 6.2 via the importHTML module:

The problem with the turntables is scratch mode and pitch control. Andre Michelle's blog has solved the pitch control issue with Flash10's Sound API.

Since I do not have Flash professional due to poverty and pirating issues, I recommend someone whom is savy configuring a set of turntables into a distribution like pushtape with UPC code help and ubercart file download. My audio configuration is offline on a quickstart (no not a virtual box-its part of the OS) installed version of Pinguy OS 11 on a laptop. I'd be willing to upload the site to a hosting provider with blog tutorial and forums to improve upon the turntables with future functionality like headphone switching.

I think most audio solutions are going to gravitate toward Sound manager 2 and since this is a natural progression for a project like this I'm putting in my two cents and suggesting a turntable flavor of pushtape. I am willing and open to working with others on this if they are sincere about looking for practical solutions.

Cheers,

Soundmanager 2 is under consideration, there are some other good media player contenders in the lineup, including jplayer and mediaelement.js. The ability to theme or modify behavior with CSS/JS is a common thread.

Good. The regular audio module in Drupal 6.2 has met most of my needs. I've used jplayer and tampered with soundmanager2. The audio module incorporates other players well with tokens as you already know. The thing that I like about the audio module is the feature to not allow file downloading. I have not tested it with a site grabber. I tried a site grabber on wheelsofsteel.net in order to get the folder hierarchy for the LAME binaries and optiPNG. Instead to my surprise it downloaded mp3's from the artists so I cancelled it. With any audio consideration, protecting an artists work from piracy is really important.

UntilAM just came out and that has abilities that Scott Schiller's prototype doesn't. It is great for soundcloud.

For a custom artist discography and for selling music- online with the right donations paid to the programmers like Andrew Frieday's waveform script - schiller's turnables as a record shop on a home server with dedicated-ip and the right ubercart services would keep the royalites and profits in the artists pocket.

Andre Michelles blog on PitchMP3 should be converted into a drupal module that mixes mp3's with an other type of widget to lock down a set of playlists for two waveform mp3 players. A panel template could be built
with two mini panels for each respective audio track.

In a nutshell, I know I'm late night ranting, a simple mixing station that protects from file download is what is needed. If anyone find a solution for html for drupal 6 or 7 ---write in. A headphone switch ---a luxury. All of this is doable and not out of reach. The rest is a matter of CSS.
