This is a pipe dream of mine, but a recent discussion about the prospect of a "Karma" module for Drupal rekindled my interest in this idea. Automember seems a natural complimentary module to a possible "Karma" module. Would it be possible to interface Automember with another module that would generate a optional criteria for changing user role in addition to the existing functionality?

I am not exactly sure how to implement what you propose, but we can talk about it some more once the porting to 4.7 is complete.

I think what he means is something similar to the way "mojo" in scoop triggers a change in member status to "trusted user" that gives some optional features--a little higher initial moderation rating on posted stories and comments, etc. Seems like something that might work through an Action triggered by the new Karma module under development, perhaps with the Action triggering Automember. I'd be interested in this kind of thing too.
