I have Media 2.x installed (unstable version) and this module does not seem to work with it. I do not see any ability/functionality to allow an update of an existing image or media file.

I've been waiting for Media 2 to stabilize before putting any effort into porting this module. The 2.x dev branch of this module will focus on Media 2 compatibility.

In case it's useful, cross-linking #1123570-9: Replace file while retaining field metadata. As I stated on that issue, for what it's worth, I'd like to see this functionality be part of File entity 2.x (which provides the core file functionality used by Media 2.x), and doing so while that project is still in code thaw might have some advantages. Cross-linking the two issues in case anyone wants to help write patches for either one.

Closing this issue since the Media module uses the File Entity module which already includes this functionality.
