I did a search, but couldn't find any thing in the archive. I hope it's not a duplicate.
While building my site locally I noticed that my browsers weren't picking up the fonts when I was offline. I'm using the Google font 'Maven' as my default font. Is there a font stack in place for when Google fonts are not available (for whatever reason)? Obviously this shouldn't happen often, but my browser default font is damn ugly... ;-)
I'm using a Foo subtheme of AT Commerce.
Thanks for the great theme, btw. The fact that it's responsive and Commerce-friendly was a total seller for me. :-)

Jeff Burnz commentedHmmm, have to check, usually I set a stack using Verdana, sans serif sort of thing, so yes normally in my themes there is, but I need to double check. I mean if you are seeing some butt ugly font then it sounds like there isn't...

hbar commentedThanks Jeff, Verdana or anything san-serif would be fine.
My definition of 'butt-ugly' just meant Times Roman in place of Maven, don't worry it wasn't Comic Sans or something... ;-)
Just as a side note: I know this is a free theme and your commercial themes have 'added functionality', but it would be great to be able to define my own font stack underneath the Google font. Definitely not critical though, and I'm loving the functionality already. Thanks again.

Jeff Burnz commentedI checked, there is no fall back as suspected, I will add it and commit shortly.
The original implementation of font control had such a feature, a text field to enter your own stack, however I took it out because it cluttered the form which is already complex - in other words I made a UX decision to only support a majority use case and push a more complex use case onto themers (those with knowledge) - for example override a font in a custom.css file with their own stack. While this is not ideal it is doable and pretty much no one has asked this question except you, which tends to indicate I was right - that most people will use the settings and be content. Yes I agree it would be great to be able to set your own, or even be able to reorder the existing ones, however those stacks comes from years of research into fonts and supporting platforms and browsers - I know they will always work and to me this is more important, i.e. low skill users experience outweighs high skill users. Its that basic idea which drives much of my decision making.
That all said, and it was long winded, I will not write this idea off completely, it all comes down to design really (design of the system, forms, form states and so on), and of course that means time...

hbar commentedGreat! Thanks for finding time to look at it. I agree with your UX decision. It would bring a level of complexity that's not really necessary for most users. I can get under the hood if I want to change your default font stack, but it probably won't be necessary. But please, no Comic Sans... ;-)
