I've tried to played the mp4 available on videojs.com (oceans-clip.mp4) to no avail in Safari 5.1.2.

I created a simple demo page (used the demo code on videojs.com). It played without problems in Safari.

I'm using version 3.1.0 of the videojs-library.

.htaccess with authentication was the problem.

What exactly did you do to fix it? I am suddenly seeing mp4 problems with Safari, too, with sound but no video, whereas I was able to play them earlier today. No updates to Safari or Video/Video.js. I did uncheck the permission for anonymous users but that didn't affect the playback at the time.
