In order to make sure Backbone can build off of and inform the Web Services and Context Core Initiative projects, including #1233232 and http://drupal.org/sandbox/Crell/1260830, we should port Backbone to work with the current version of the WSCCI kernel: http://drupal.org/node/1260830/git-instructions/kernel

With basic REST entity support in D8 dev, and the Backbone lib in core, we need to update this module to provide the basic backbone extensions for loading and saving data RESTfully in client-side apps.

More info to come. This thread will be used to track overall progress, not individual tasks.
