I have a group using the Yahoo Groups functionality and we'd like to get out of it. However, so far, I haven't been able to see how to configure Drupal's forum (or any related modules) to

1. email postings to all subscribed (not just a notice that something has changed, but the actual thread content)
2. capture reply emails as posts to the thread

If anyone could point me to a module that can do this, and/or direct me toward documentation of how to do this (if I have missed something), that would be great.

Thanks.

Agaric Design Collective very much wants this functionality for PWGD and we'll either accept financial support for or contribute money to development and documentation of a solution. We want to take this e-mail list integrated with web site functionality and extend it with the possibility of democratic (juried) moderation of what gets broadcast and how widely, but first things first.

Technically we met these two requirements with MGP-Forum, but as a donated piece of work on shared hosting, there are major compromises – namely, subscribing to the Mailman mailing list and to the Drupal site are separate steps – which would not be necessary with hosting on a dedicated server (which we now use and can provide this sort of functionality on). We haven't had a chance to dive back in and look into how to do it right, but it never hurts to make it our next paid project.

Here's the procedure we used then, Mailman and the mailhandler and listhandler modules:

The other solution I know of I think involves organic groups, og2list, and Sympa, but don't know that anyone's using it.

We'd put at least a few hundred dollars toward a bounty for this, we'd estimate (and do it for) $3,500 to work this out reasonably well for Drupal with some hope of scaling.

Agaric's greatly looking forward to others' experiences, suggestions, and thoughts, if not solutions or cash!

Open source, GPL license, Python not PHP.

We still want it in Drupal!

Any News? I'd would definitely love this functionality to be in Drupal with Organic Groups.

I think I've seen it done for the regular forums with mail-handler handling the inbound mail, but OG would be my preferred location due to its additional functions.

There are a series of 4.7 modules that integrate og with Sympa called og2mlm. However, I have not seen anything for integrating in drupal 5.x or 6.x... I am using 5.x and am desperately needing this functionality. Still searching for a module set that will perform this function and am considering going throught the conversion process to convert these modules to 5.x... (not having alot of exp with coding drupal, this may take some time...)
