Hi,
I have installed the module and can make changes but when I save I get a pop up alert that says "http://PATH_TO_SITE.COM [object XMLHttpRequest]" I have changed all the permissions on my CSS files in question. thanks

Same problem here. Permissions are correct and still get [object XMLHttpRequest].
Solution on three different systems is always to deactivate devel module:

Devel
7.x-1.3
Various blocks, pages, and functions for developers.
Required by: Devel generate (disabled)

"duplicate" 1413760 doesn't seem to relate to this issue in my case.

Thanks for narrowing this down - the only things I can think of is that it is either conflicting with the client-side code, or somehow the save request URL is being interrupted by Devel. I don't have a massive amount of time to track this down, but will look into it when I can.
